Term dates Summer term 2014

To all Parents, Guardians & Pupils,

Very Important Message.

This message was issued on 6th March 2014 and is re-issued to ensure you all know that lessons will be taking place this coming Saturday 24th May 2014.

I am writing to let you know of two term date changes in the Summer Term. We had planned for two Saturdays off during the May Bank Holiday ie: 24th May & 31st May,
so that we finished on Saturday 12th July. However, with the Globe Theatre confirming earlier this week that we can begin rehearsals for our Summer Show on the 12th July, our last Saturday at Lipson will now be the 5th July. The Thursday 10th July and Friday 11th July sessions will continue as normal. However, the Saturday before the Spring Bank Holiday Monday ie:Saturday – 24th May – we will now be running our normal Saturday sessions (week 5). The Summer Term will still begin on Saturday 26th April. In case you ask, we did not start on the 19th April as it is Easter weekend and many of you informed us that you would be away on holiday.

Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures
invites you to get involved with their latest production, Lord of the Flies. This unique project offers young men across the South West an opportunity to experience this novel in workshops and afterwards, brings together professional dancers from the company and chosen young men to perform at Theatre Royal 30th April – 4th May 2014.

We are offering specially crafted, high energy workshops for boys aged between 10 – 25 years old. No previous experience is necessary, participants will get a chance to be creative and learn choreography from the show in a fun, relaxed environment. Workshops will be held in schools across Plymouth over the coming months and open taster sessions will be available in the new year.

These workshops are an opportunity for young men of all abilities to experience performing arts, but also to develop self-belief, discipline and achieve something of a high standard they may not have considered before. This is undeniably an incredible opportunity for anyone with an interest in dance, but also a fantastic chance to experience first-hand how one of the biggest dance companies in the world put together a show.

CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCES 2013

Dear all,

As you know we are breaking up early so that we can perform at a few of the Christmas events we have been asked to. Please find below 3 of the events of which we would like the children to attend and of which they have already started rehearsing for.

These events are a really exciting part of building their confidence, working with peers and of course learning to perform AND is such a fantastic way to start the Festive season!!

The second of the performances is at Mt Edgcumbe’s Christmas Fayre. We will be performing by the stables on Sunday the 8th of December at 12.30. This will include Musical Theatre and singing classes and Theatre Group.

The final performance is ‘Sing a Long with Santa’ at Kitley House. This again will include Musical Theatre and singing classes. The students will be singing with a pianist from 12 on Sunday the 15th of December. This is the first time this event has been held so we are very privileged to have been asked.

You can book to have a meal whilst the children sing or after as Mrs Marshall (chef/restauranteur) has generously organized a buffet for the children in a different room (they will be chaperoned). BUT places are limited so if you would like to book please call Kitley House and tell them you are from ‘Italia Conti’.

This promises to be a Fantastic event one not to be missed! I can’t wait and I look forward to seeing you all there!

The first performance is at the ‘Thanksgiving Parade’ on Plymouth’s Barbican on Thursday the 28th of November. The Students will perform at the ‘Mayflower Steps’ where the main of the event is. There will be Christmas stalls and we will sing as ‘Santa’ arrives by boat at 5.30pm. There will also be a Lantern parade after if you wish to stay and enjoy the Festivities.

This too looks set to be a very festive evening.

For all events could we ask all students who are performing to arrive 30 minutes before the performance start time.

Teachers will confirm what they wish the students to wear and I will put a list on the board. Please let us know if you are not able to attend these events.

I look forward to seeing you all there!
